• Discover Lipa Noi by Bicycle: Villa Siritarar invites all guests to enjoy a bicycle tour of your immediate neighbourhood in Lipa Noi, a rural area of the island renowned for its white sand beaches and clear and calm sea. The pace of life here is still laid-back and local, with coconut plantations and farms, and working fishing villages with traditional wooden houses and their distinctive fishing boats by the shore. Stop for a fresh coconut at one of the roadside stalls or call into a rustic local cafe for a snack of Thai noodles, and experience aspects of Koh Samui as it once was - a tranquil tropical island paradise.
• Boating to Magical Ang Thong National Marine Park: Just 30 km from Samui and visible in the distance from Villa Siritarar, Ang Thong National Marine Park is one of Thailand’s national natural treasures. A day spent exploring over 40 intriguing karst [limestone] islands with their hidden coves and beaches is sure to be memorable. Beguiling lakes for snorkelling, kayaking, and paddleboarding, and lush green jungles for hiking keep you busy. Easily reached via speed or sailboat, pack a picnic and enjoy one of the most magical nature experiences Samui has to offer.
• Jungle Adventures and Adrenaline Thrills: Samui is blessed with luxuriant natural rainforests and jungle-clad mountains that provide adventure enthusiasts with a wide range of action and adrenaline-filled activities. • Fisherman’s Village & Night Market: Your visit to Koh Samui should include at least one trip to Fisherman’s Village, 35 minutes away from Lipa Noi. This once-sleepy fishing village on the island’s north coast is now a vibrant beachside strip of chic fashion boutiques, trendy restaurants, and bars. On certain nights of the week, the village explodes into a riot of colour and activity as vendors from all over the island set up their stalls selling everything from Thai and international street food, local fashion, electronics, souvenirs, and much more. And don’t miss the nightly fire show on the beach in front of the popular Coco Tam’s restaurant.
• Meet Samui’s Gentle Giants at Elephant Haven: Enjoy a morning or afternoon in the company of these friendly and playful creatures, feeding them with bananas and other fruits, observing them in their natural habitat, and watching them bathe and frolic with the young ones in the pool. • A Southern Thai Culinary Experience: Samui is renowned for its delicious and fiery Southern Thai cuisine, distinguished by its rich spicy soups and curries, fish and shellfish dishes, and exotic salads. The island offers a choice of immersive Thai Cooking Schools, which invite students to source local ingredients for the dishes they will prepare, often using recipes, tools, and techniques unchanged for centuries. Villa Siritarar works in partnership with Som Rom Space cooking school to arrange classes for guests, and there is every likelihood that your villa chef will be happy for you to accompany them on a trip to the local market and to share some of their culinary expertise, if you ask.
• World-class Golfing at Santiburi: Santiburi Country Club is a 25-minute drive from Villa Siritarar and one of the most scenic golf courses in Thailand, and the island’s only championship 18-hole, par-72 golf course. Stretching along the island’s northern hills with spectacular elevations from 25 - 180meters above sea level, this challenging course is surrounded by natural rainforest and coconut plantations, with distracting views of the mountains and ocean at every turn. Breakfast at the delightful Club House is a wonderful way to kick off your game and the ideal spot for a refreshing beer at the 19th hole.
• Tour the Island’s Temples and Waterfalls: Take a tour of this beautiful island to see the waterfalls and temples. Don’t miss Samui’s most iconic landmark, the golden Big Buddha and its impressive neighbour, Plai Laem Wat in Bophut. Further south in Lamai, visit the enigmatic ‘Mummy Monk’ at Wat Khunaram , the island’s most famous mummified monk, and nearby Wat Sila Ngu or Red temple. The town also boasts its own Chinatown, where old Chinese shop houses bear witness to the town’s exotic history as a strategic trading port, and which now sell an eclectic range of bric-a-brac. Dining at one of the waterfront seafood restaurants, you can experience a taste of authentic spicy local cuisine, while the weekly ‘walking street’ market has become an attraction with innumerable vendors selling local and international delicacies and goods.
• Engaging with the Samui Community: Join Samui’s famous ‘Trash Heroes’ as they endeavor to keep Samui’s beaches free from waste and safe and beautiful for everyone. ‘Trash Heroes’ meet every Sunday afternoon at a designated beach on the island and for several hours clean the beach. Supported by the local council, it’s a fun and rewarding experience for everyone and a great opportunity to engage with the local community as you make a difference.
