Most people will tell you they can\u2019t be found in the area \u2013 they breed in the Nagano region \u2013 but 30 years ago a few Japanese macaques, or snow monkeys, were brought to Hakodate. They refused to get out and now you can see almost a hundred of them frolicking in the bath. It\u2019s a sight to behold and a fabulous experience you wouldn\u2019t expect on your journey to find perfect powder.<\/p>\n<h3>Revel in art, and even make your own<\/h3>\n<p>Serious question: what could be more important in Niseko than powder snow? Its culture, and the culture\u2019s offspring &#8211; art. There\u2019s a lot of it to see in Niseko. Artworks are inspired by the Hokkaido region.
