Ready to recreate a taste of NoKu in your own kitchen?<\/p>\n<h1>Recipe<\/h1>\n<p><!--WPRM Recipe 23402--><\/p>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe\">\n<h2 class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-name\">Balinese Spice Paste (Base Be Pasih)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-summary\">\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-equipment\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-ingredients\">\n<ul>\n<li>450 gm large red chilies, halved, seeded, and sliced<\/li>\n<li>50 gm garlic, peeled and sliced<\/li>\n<li>225 gm shallots, peeled and sliced<\/li>\n<li>175 gm fresh turmeric (yellow ginger), peeled and sliced\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>100 gm young ginger, peeled andsliced<\/li>\n<li>125 gm candlenuts<\/li>\n<li>200 gm medium-sized tomato, halvedand seeded<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp coriander seeds, crushed<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp dried shrimp paste (<em>terasi<\/em>), roasted<\/li>\n<li>150 ml coconut oil<\/li>\n<li>2\u00bd tbsp tamarind pulp, soaked in 1cup of water for 20 mins and strained<\/li>\n<li>250  ml water<\/li>\n<li>\u00be tbsp salt<\/li>\n<li>3 pc salam leaves<\/li>\n<li>2 stalks lemongrass, bruised<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>In a stone mortar or food processor, combine all ingredients except     tamarind pulp, salam leaves, lemongrass, salt, and water. Grind coarsely.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Transfer the mixture into a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Add the     remaining ingredients.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Simmer over medium heat for about 60 minutes, or until the water     evaporates and the marinade turns a golden hue.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Allow to cool before using.
