1. Do try to wai<\/i><\/h4>\n

This much-used Thai greeting involves a slight bow, with hands pressed together at upper chest level in a prayer-like way. Younger people will <\/span>wai<\/span><\/i> their elders first, and the greeting is then reciprocated. The <\/span>wai<\/span><\/i> is also used to say \u2018goodbye\u2019 and \u2018thank you\u2019, and to show respect.<\/span><\/p>\n

THE DON\u2019Ts<\/h2>\n

1. Don\u2019t drink tap water<\/h4>\n

It may not be safe. To be environmentally friendly, refill your bottle from the high-quality chilled water in your villa\u2019s dispenser rather than buying multiple plastic bottles.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2. Don\u2019t use your feet to point \u2013 particularly at an image of Buddha \u2013 touch, or step over anybody<\/h4>\n

And propping them up on a table is a big no-no too. Thais consider feet to be the dirtiest part of the body and one that should be kept low and out of sight.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Don\u2019t touch people\u2019s heads, including those of babies and children<\/h4>\n
